2006 Events

·         9/15-9/16/06 – KHSI Expo and Sale – 2nd Annual KHSI Expo Sale on 9/16/06 in Jefferson City Missouri and Hosted by Lincoln University.

The 2006 KHSI Expo.  Enthusiasm was running high on September 15th & 16th.  Several attendees have told us that KHSI had an outstanding and excellent program.  Several of the presenters told us how much they enjoyed having an informed and an audience with questions and wanting to learn.

Expo Sale on 9/16/06.  The 2nd Annual KHSI Expo Sale was another excellent sale for KHSI.  Prices for 40 sale animals averaged over $500 and is the best average for a Katahdin sale in 2006.   Results of the 2nd Annual KHSI Expo Sale (2006) can be downloaded in pdf format – 2nd Annual KHSI Expo Sale – 2006.  Note that the amount of information available to the buyers about the consigned stock is one of the best if not the best in the country for sheep breeds.  Breeders were required to provide performance information on their consigned stock.  Many animals in the sale had data on the genetic worth of their stock from the National Sheep Improvement Program.  Katahdin breeders in this program receive accurate information on the genetic potential for growth, milking ability and prolificacy.

Expo Educational Workshops 9/15 to 9/16/06 – As mentioned above the Expo attendees were very excited about the quality of information provided.  In 2007, we plan to record the presentations and make a DVD available after the meeting.  Over 160 people attended the presentations on Friday, 9/15 – the most ever for a KHSI meeting.
